Kidnapping women … a “black shame” in the face of Marib tribes

Islah factions raided a number of citizens’ homes from the Northern provinces in Marib city, northeast of Yemen, and kidnapped a number of women on charges of “spying for Houthis.” In a move that represents a “black stigma” in the culture of Yemeni tribes, that Marib represent its most prominent demographic composition

Local sources said that crews and armored vehicles stormed homes in several neighborhoods in the city, most notably in Al-Zira’a neighborhood, and kidnapped eight women, including a woman from the Food Country region in Sana’a, Samiha Al-Kaboudi, who was taken with her newborn baby to an unknown destination..

This step represents a violation to international laws and human rights and a provocation to Marib tribes that these families are under its protection.

It is also the second of its kind in Islah factions ’record that full of kidnapping cases and terrorizing women, as its factions had previously kidnapped a woman in Al-Jawf province named Samira Marsh and handed her over to Saudi Arabia to exchange their prisoners.

It is reported that the abduction of Marsh was a motivation to Al-Jawf tribes, to liberate the province, and it is expected that women abduction in Marib, will be an incentive for the tribes, to expel the factions that are trying to establish a different culture from the culture of Marib society.

In this context, the first deputy of Ma’rib province in Sana’a government, Muhammad Alwan, considered the kidnapping of eight displaced women from their homes and children by Islah factions in Marib as a “new stigma and black shame,” calling for accelerating the liberation of the city and revenge for all crimes.”

The deputy of province that belongs to Sana’a said in exclusive statement, to Alkhabar AlYemeni, that kidnapping women is not the first of its kind, as there have already been women kidnapping, at an earlier time, the first was “Samira Marsh” in Al-Jawf.

Alwan emphasized that these acts that violate morals, customs and religion do not represent Marib province, and its people, but rather Islah Party only.

The deputy alwan called on Marib tribes and the rest of Yemen tribes, to line up next to Sana’a forces, to liberate Marib city, and to avenge to every victim. Considering these as honor crimes an additional “customary, moral and religious” motive to speed up the liberation of the city.

In addition, local sources in Marib province said that women who were kidnapped by legitimate forces, on allegations that they are working with Houthis, they are displaced women, refused night summons of Marib police for women, and submitted a complaint previously to the governor of the province, Sultan Al-Arada.

A source in the executive unit of managing Displaced Persons Camps denied the allegations of legitimacy that justified the kidnapping of eight women in Marib, on the pretext “Houthi cells”. The source explained that these are false justification.

Among the kidnapped displaced women, according to the source, a woman named Samiha al-Kaboudi from food country in Raymah, she is the mother of a baby, no more than a month old. The source confirms that the Military Police forces of Marib province did not allow Al-Kaboudi to take her baby.
