Fierce clashes break out again in Abyan

Violent clashes between forces loyal to Hadi’s government and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) ‘s militias have resumed in Abyan province in southern Yemen, local sources said on Wednesday.

According to the sources, both sides exchanged heavy shelling in the seam zones between the cities of Zinjibar and Shuqrah.

They added that clashes with heavy weapons broke out between Hadi’s forces and the STC’s militias at the border of the Sheikh Salem area and expanded to Wadi Sala and Qarn al-Kalasi.

The Saudi-backed Islah militants carried out on Wednesday an artillery attack on the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Yemen’s southern province Abayn, sources said.

The sources affirmed that the Islah militants hit the UAE-backed STC’s military sites in Zinjibar district.

The sources added that the clashes broke out in several areas Sheikh Salem’s front to Qarn al-Classi in the same district, using heavy artillery shelling.

The fronts in Abyan hav been witnessing a new round of confrontations after negotiations between Hadi”s government and the STC stalled.
