“our peace initiative is still standing”:  President al-Mashat

President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat, affirmed that the political solution document submitted by the National Salvation Government in Sana’a to stop the war and end the siege represents a possible and impartial way for all parties to reach a complete settlement of all files of war.

“our peace initiative is still standing,” President Al-Mashat said in an interview with the daily Al-Thawra newspaper on Saturday, stressing Yemen’s right to respond,

President al-Mashat confirmed the openness of the Republic of Yemen to friendly relations with all countries and governments and that Yemen wants a lasting and comprehensive peace.

He pointed out that communication with Saudi Arabia continues, but it is exposed to tides and has not materialized on the ground, stressing that “we will not close any door that leads to peace and will not make a concession that affects the sovereignty of our country.”

The Yemeni President called on Russia and other major countries to do a role that protects the settlements.

He also affirmed that the Republic of Yemen is open in friendly relations with all countries and governments and that it wishes for a lasting and comprehensive peace, noting that he sent a message to the Russian President in this regard.

“the United Nations has a negative attitude towards the economic war on Yemen, providing cover for the coalition of aggression,” he said.

He stressed that independence and ownership of the decision is a condition for the advancement of the country and the interests of the people, as identification with spoilers is not consistent with Yemen’s values.

On the internal level,  President al-Mashat said that “Yemen by the martyrdom of President Saleh al-Sammad has lost a great leader and a symbol of its symbols, because of his characteristics that embodied the Qur’anic model.”


During the interview, President al-Mashat touched on a number of the issues related to the crime of assassinating President Saleh al-Sammad and the pivotal role of the Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi in managing those difficult days and bypassing the ordeal by which the aggression coalition wanted to assassinate the state and bring it down completely.


The President indicated to the factors of success of the National Vision for building the modern Yemeni state, forefront of which is the presence of the political will that supports the national vision and its plans, affirming that the vision is continuation of the project launched by the martyr President al-Sammad (a hand protects and a hand builds).
