First Saudi Step towards Lifting Blockade on Yemeni Ports

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sana’a government, Hussein Al-Ezzi, revealed on Sunday that the commercial ships have arrived directly in Hodeidah, western Yemen.

This matter was considered by many observers as a first step towards lifting the blockade imposed on the country since the start of the war eight years ago.

In a tweet titled “Insufficient glimmer of hope,” Al-Ezzi said, “The direct crossing of all commercial ships to the ports of Hodeidah without detention or delay is a preliminary step in the right direction.”

He called for the necessity of abolishing the UN inspection mechanism, saying that “the step needs to be strengthened and expanded through the abolition of UNIFEM,” calling for “more and more positive action and joint determination to enhance opportunities for peace.”
