New American Maneuver on the File of Yemen

The United States began on Monday, a new maneuver in Yemen file, in conjunction with widespread criticism of its role – which Sana’a describes as “sabotaging” the mediation led by the Sultanate of Oman.

US State Department announced a new position on what is happening behind the scenes.

The former adviser to the ministry, David Pollock, said that his country no longer puts Yemeni file on its list of priorities, trying to justify that by its preoccupation with international files, most notably the European and Asian files and its internal crises.

Pollock’s remarks come only a day after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken spoke during a seminar at the University of Chicago, referring to the role of his country in the ongoing negotiations between Sana’a and Riyadh, through supporting and communicating with experts.

The objectives of the changing American tone on Yemen are not clear yet, whether it was the result of criticism for Washington’s subversive role, or an attempt to defend the decline of American influence in the region specifically in Yemen file, with Saudi Arabia engaging in direct negotiations and regional sponsorship with Sana’a. However, its timing indicates that Washington is not satisfied with what is going on.
