Leaders of STC Start Arranging their Position in North

Leaders of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which calls for the secession of southern Yemen, began on Monday, arranging their position in northern Yemen.

This coincides with the escalation of Saudi Arabia’s war against the Council.

It is not yet clear the motives for the new displacement from Aden, and whether it was in anticipation of the post-negotiation phase from Saudi Arabia and Anssarallah government “Houthis” amid indications of an expected Saudi withdrawal, or for other motives, but its coincidence with the Saudi campaign against the transitional leaders indicates that it reflects fears of being targeted.

In this context, Majid al-Daari, a journalist in the Transitional Council, warned of the danger of Saudi moves to turn Aden into a major prison for southern leaders.

Al-Daari indicated that Saudi Arabia has re-activated a blacklist that includes dozens of anti-Saudi leaders. He explained that among the list are journalists and politicians, most notably Aidarous Al-Zubaidi.

Al-Daari’s warnings came after a member of the transitional negotiation delegation, Yahya Al-Shuaibi, revealed that he was arrested at Aden airport and his passport was withheld under directives from Saudi Arabia.

It also coincides with the intensification of Saudi Arabia’s media campaign against the Transitional Council and its leaders, the latest of which was the publication of a video for Hani Bin Brik and Yahya Al-Shuaibi praising the revolution of Anssarallah movement and thanking Mr. Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi for leading Yemen to safety.

The targeting the leaders comes in parallel with a similar campaign targeting STC media, which was accused by Saudi activists of coordinating with “Houthis” media.

These moves heightened the fears of the southern leaders that they would be a prelude to targeting them during the coming period that might include assassination and abuse.
