Head of STC Vows to Dissolve Aden Government
Head of Transitional Council, which calls for the secession of southern Yemen, threatened, on Sunday, to dissolve Maeen government, this came during a meeting of less than half of the members of government in Aden, during which the flag of Yemen Republic was raised.
Sources in Maeen government reported that al-Zubaidi gave Maeen ministers abroad a two-week deadline to return to Aden or change them. He also called on the participating ministers to quickly move their headquarters from Riyadh and Marib, most notably the Defense ministry.
Al-Zubaidi had met earlier today with Maeen government for the first time since the return of its president from abroad after recovering from cancer.
The meeting came a day after the Presidency of the Transitional Council issued a statement, during a meeting chaired by Al-Zubaidi, calling on Maeen government to advance education, in light of the faltering opening for schools in Aden due to the decision of STC union to prevent the opening of schools.
It also comes at a time when many crises are raging in Aden city, the transitional stronghold, most notably the electricity, which was reported that completely out of service in Aden during the past hours, in addition to anticipation of upcoming doses due to an expected decision to raise the price of the customs dollar and electricity tariffs.
It was not clear whether STC was trying, as usual, to blame Maeen government for facing an expected popular escalation against his authority in the city, or within arrangements to announce a southern government in light of the crisis within the presidential authority.
