New American Offers to “Houthis”, Including Salaries
Omani media revealed on Monday, new ways for United States to mediate with Anssarallah movement, “Houthis”. This comes in the wake of Sana’a delegation waving from the Russian capital not to extend the armistice.
The official agency reported that the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, met Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and discussed with him the Sultanate’s efforts to expand and extend the armistice.
The agency indicated that US envoy thanked President Joe Biden for the Sultanate’s efforts. Diplomatic sources reported that the American envoy had requested, through the Omani mediator, the transfer of a new offer to Sana’a regarding the expansion of the armistice, including promises of salary payments.
Last Thursday, the US envoy began a tour of the region, including Saudi Arabia, UAE and the Sultanate of Oman.
Emirati media reported that, during his visit to Abu Dhabi, Envoy Lenderking discussed the situation in the oil province of Shabwah, which Emirati factions managed to control; it is the most prominent oil and gas areas in eastern Yemen.
Lenderking’s latest tour came in the wake of the head of Sana’a delegation threat, Muhammad Abd al-Salam, from the Russian capital not to extend the armistice, targeting oil companies operating in eastern Yemen, in the event that no urgent measures are taken, including the payment of salaries.
During his visit to the region, US envoy expressed fears of a Russian-Chinese role in Yemen.He may mix his country’s cards for the temporary truce.
He also petting Sana’a by talking about his country’s push to expand the armistice and progress towards negotiations for a comprehensive cease-fire.
